The timple is a string instrument that is very representative of our land. It is typical of parties and family gatherings and is closely associated with the traditional music of the Islands.

It has 5 strings instead of the 6 strings of the guitar. Of small dimensions (soprano scale of 36 cm, but normally less than 60 cm), is able to be carried out it easily, its manufacture is of a traditional nature, with fir, pine and sandalwood. Its origin is in the Spanish guitar and the Portuguese cavaquinho, but it undergoes its own evolution and receives influences from America. It differs from the ukulele in that it has a cleaner sound.
